CSS Reboot Fall 2005 – A Few Days Later

I mentioned CSS Reboot Fall 2005 a few days back, and I revisited it today to see how the voting had gone. Was there a clear favourite, or was it close? Well, at the time of writing, the lowest score (out of 5) is 1.35, while the highest is 2.15; less than a point difference! By using the highly scientific approach of looking at the position of the scroll bar, I determined that approximately 66% of the entries are scoring under 2.

What can one read into the results? Not much I suppose, while some people voted by looks alone, others more than likely payed attention to usability, and for every person who liked a site, there was someone who didn’t. While obviously most of the top ranked pages managed to combine ease of use with a great look, the very simple and plain pages didn’t rank too far behind. Near the bottom were most of the sites where the designer obviously forgot that people actually have to read the page. (Ow ow my eyes, my eyes are burning!)
