No point running a web site about web design and standards if your own blog doesn't validate. ;) Your blog loads up okay in Opera 8.5, but you cannot view the blog entry, or any of the desktop windows. But I'll surely come back here once in a while and pick up some tips. The biggest problem with load times I have is that I have to pull in a few RSS feeds and reformat them using feedsweep or feedburner to render as HTML.
