The Web for the Colourblind
A couple of days ago I stumbled across the Colourblind Web Page Filter, a great web site that allows you to view your, or any other, web site as a colourblind person would. It covers all the major types of colourblindness and is an easy to use tool when checking your site. What makes it stand out from all the other colourblind viewers out there is this one actually displays the web page from the URL you enter. No highly compressed tiny jpegs, no having to upload screenshots. Unfortunately it does tend to stop working when it gets a lot of traffic, maybe someone out there can help with more powerful hosting?
I had planned on writing a longer writeup on designing for colourblindness, but then today I saw 456 Berea Street had already linked to an excellent article by Richard Rutter of Clagnut. Since Richard is colourblind, he’s probably a good person to read on these matters. ![]()
